PROPS

Painted Megaphone

This working megaphone was custom painted to replicate a prop for the character "Rabbit" from Steam Powered Giraffe. After spray painting it black, I applied the red and silver parts with a sponge to give it a weathered, steampunk look.

Trickster Headpiece

This headpiece was for a cosplay of "The Trickster" from Koozå. I drafted a pattern from paper and converted the base into foam, then covered it in fabric and made the tendril pieces out of stuffed fabric with wire inside to keep their shapes and a bell on the end of each. The whole piece was then painted to match the rest of the costume.

Hoop Skirt

This piece was part of a cosplay of "Klara" from Kurios. I sized out each ring and cut them out of foam board, then glued multiple together to create the right thickness and sanded the edges to make them round. The metal pattern was painted on and a system of strings held them all level with each other and connected them to the corset. The sizing and positioning of the strings was adjusted to create the right height from the ground and to make it so the whole thing could be picked up for different poses.

LED Spine Pieces

For my cosplay of "The Spine" from Steam Powered Giraffe, I made three spikes out of foam board to attach to the back of the vest. These pieces attached to a center panel that could be unzipped from the vest and removed. It was reinforced to allow screws to go through and bolt the spikes in place, partially for aesthetics and partially so that they could be taken out for ease of storage and transporting. I also sewed EL wire to the panel so it could light up via a battery pack hidden on my belt. When the spines were removed, the center panel could also be reversed, concealing the screws and making the back of the vest look normal.

Jester Hat

This hat was part of my own original design of a jester character for a renaissance fair. I started with a basic posterboard dome to fit my head and built a wire structure around it to make the shape of the hat. I then sewed a cover for each point and hand-stitched a band around the bottom to cover up the edges. I decorated all the pieces with gold trim and embellishments and added bells to all the ends.

Foam Work

I've used EVA foam in many projects to create armor and other accessories. Examples here include a crown and belt for "Wanderlust" from Just Dance, chest armor and bracers for "Fjord" from Critical Role, and boot decorations for "Klara" from Kurios.
